Metta Theatre is recruiting a Touring Production Manager / TSM for their UK tour of Metta’s Little Mermaid - The Circus Sensation.
Spectacular circus and spellbinding songs combine in this extraordinary new adaptation from the award-winning Metta Theatre. A reimagining of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Little Mermaid, with awe-inspiring acrobatics and hauntingly beautiful original folk songs.
Written by Poppy Burton-Morgan and Designed by William Reynolds - the team that brought you the smash hit Jungle Book - with music by Matt Devereaux and starring some of the world’s leading circus artists, this breathtakingly beautiful production will enchant everyone from 8 to 108. Contract period - Mon 19 February – Sun 6 May 2018 (with some prep/pre-rehearsal days)
Rehearsals 9 Feb - w/c 5 Mar 18 (3 wks), Mon-Sat in London, w/c 12 Mar 18 (1 wk) Mon-Sat in Eastleigh
Tech & previews w/c 20 Mar 18, Theatre by the Lake Keswick & w/c 26 Mar 18, Derby
Weekly touring until 5 May 18 (with possible extension)
Reporting to: Producers
Fee: Paid position with fee commensurate with experience.
Touring allowance: £250pw OR travel allowance only (based on train fares) when commutable from london OR travel, accommodation and meals provided.
The P/TSM will be required to attend all rehearsals full time from w/c 12 March, all technical rehearsals, and performances as well as all get ins and get outs.
There is some flexibility in the final duties of the role dependant on experience. Full time attendance at earlier rehearsals is dependant on availability and experience.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Preparatory work in advance of the first day of rehearsals as required by the Company.
Scheduling and coordinating regular production meetings prior to and throughout rehearsals.
Input into design of all circus rigging.
Providing a full spec of all equipment required including the truss rig.
Checking and testing (or organising this from an external provider if agreed with the Company in advance) of any Metta-owned equipment.
Leading on contract negotiation and shop liaison in regards to the purchase and/or hire of technical equipment (including circus equipment).
Scheduling and executing all rehearsal room get ins/outs.
Completing and managing all risk assessments and method statements for the production (including all circus and rigging).
Creating venue specific plans (ground, set, sound and lighting) for each and all venues.
All advance and 'on the day' technical liaison with tour venues, including all crew calls.
Running venue ins/outs, including managing local crew.
Scheduling and managing transport (trucking company) for all physical production elements, including running all truck packs.
Relighting for each venue, including programming the lighting desk.
Ensuring all elements of the Lighting Design is executed to the highest possible standard in all touring venues.
Actively collaborating with the creative team and the rest of the production team to ensure smooth running of the Production.
Professional TSM experience of touring theatre productions.
Professional experience of aerial/circus productions (desirable - some rigging training is available).
Professional experience working with & programming moving lights.
Professional training in stage management and proven track record within the industry.
Excellent knowledge of technical theatre.
Experience in running local crews.
Excellent team player and communication skills.
Proactive & excellent attention to detail.
First aid at work certificate (desirable).
UK driving licence & own car (desirable).
