Metta Theatre Accessible Auditions

Are you a collaborative, open and exceptionally talented D/deaf or Disabled or neuro-diverse actor-musician? Would you like to be considered for a range of new British musicals being developed by Metta Theatre over the next 3 years?

We have a number of new musicals in development and want to increase our pool of highly skilled D/deaf, disabled and neuro-diverse actor-musicians and singers that we're considering for these projects. If you would like to be considered for a Metta production and meet with Artistic Director Poppy Burton-Morgan please fill in this Google Form or if email is easier then email a CV and a self tape of you playing your instrument and/or singing a song that shows off your voice, to intern@mettatheatre.co.uk with the subject heading [ACCESSIBLE AUDITIONS]. Please submit your materials by October 1st.

Poppy will be meeting with successful candidates in London.

LONDON TUESDAY OCTOBER 16th - V&A Museum - Cromwell Road, Knightsbridge, London SW7 2RL

Please make us aware of any access needs and we will do our best to accommodate them in advance and on the day. An a BSL interpreter / lip-speaker / speech-to-text reporter can be provided for you if you let us know in advance and both spaces are fully accessible for wheelchair users. Parking space can be provided, and there will be a quiet area where you can prepare or rest before/after your audition. Also, please let us know if it would be helpful for us to meet you at the nearest station (London Waterloo or Southwark for the London audition, Salisbury Rail station for Salisbury) and if there’s anything we’ve not mentioned that would be helpful for you and facilitate you giving us your best on the day. Additionally, if you need support in creating your self tape (an audio file is also fine) please contact poppy@mettatheatre.co.uk

If you are invited to meet, you will be given a 30 minute time slot and asked to prepare a song from one of the shows we have in development. You will also be asked to perform another song of your choosing that you feel best shows off your voice and/or instrument(s). There will be a pianist to accompany you, or you may use a backing track or accompany yourself. We are interested in your skills as a collaborator so we will probably work in depth on a short section of song - playing around with it in several different way - rather than hearing a song in full.

We will contact all successful applicants no later than 2 weeks before the audition date with materials to prepare. We will respond to all applicants who apply but we are a very small organisation so we cannot provide feedback for those that we choose not to meet.

We will respond in writing (or phone call) to everyone that we meet with clarifying whether we will offer you a role in a full production or for research and development period for any of the following projects which you may be being considered for:

IN THE WILLOWS by Poppy Burton-Morgan, Pippa Cleary and Keiran Merrick. A hip hop musical based on Kenneth Grahame's Wind in the Willows. Touring spring 2019
