Full production Summer 2018
Sisters Lolo, Nne Chukwu and Udo are whiling away their days in a rural Biafran backwater longing to return to the cosmopolitan Lagos of their youth. In this stunning new adaptation from award-winning poet and playwright Inua Ellams (The Barbershop Chronicles and The Black T-Shirt Collective, National Theatre) Chekhov’s bittersweet comedy is transposed to Nigeria during the Biafran war. This bold new production marries award-winning Metta Theatre’s striking visual style with powerhouse performances from some of our country’s leading black actors.
