Casandra is marrying the Duke but when he leaves to fight for the Pope love blossoms between her and the Duke's son. In a culture where honour is the highest virtue there can be only one outcome... Punishment Without Revenge is a tragedy with no tragic hero where each character is human – there are no villains and monsters, heroes or gods. In 2008 Kathleen Jeffs (nee Mountjoy) & Poppy Burton-Morgan began working on a new adaptation of Lope De Vega's most human tragedy. In February 2009 we began working with actors and had two private readings of the play followed in March 2010 by a public showing of a small extract for the Out of the Wings Spanish Golden Age Theatre Symposium, held in Oxford University. Metta Theatre are currently looking to mount a full production of the play in 2011. |
