12-month part-time, freelance engagement (July 2017 – July 2018)
Based in Fulham with some travel away from London
Metta Theatre exists to change the world. Since 2005 we (visionary Director Poppy Burton-Morgan and Motley trained Designer William Reynolds) have been using our uniquely imaginative brand of theatre to provide a platform for unheard voices and stories. We reimagine popular narratives to better reflect and represent the diversity of our world, using words, music, projection, puppetry, opera, dance and circus. We believe that everyone should be able to access bold, innovative and intelligent theatre.
This is an exciting period of change for the Company having recently received £300,000 ACE Strategic Touring Funding over a three year period and with a raft of exciting projects in development and production (see above). The company is growing quickly – we’re looking for an exceptional individual who has the ambition to grow with us whilst fitting in with our supportive and caring ethos. This is an opportunity to build on your experience and enhance your professional reputation.
We are looking for a particular combination of passion and compassion, tenacity and capacity to get things done, all in the context of a high workload, projects in all stages of development and expansive ambition. Key to managing this complexity is staying connected, so a capacity to reach out and respond under pressure is essential. Other qualities we value in this role include initiative, flexibility, a talent for collaboration, and skills in relationship management.
You will already have some experience and have tested your own capacity to be resilient and productive in a similar role. You will be inspired by the work of the company and the opportunity to play a part in realizing the Artistic Directors’ vision.
The Producer will support Metta’s Artistic Directors in producing the existing programme of work for 2017-18 as well as exploiting those existing projects for future commercial and international touring. There is the opportunity for training and other CPD initiatives. The Producer will report to the Artistic Directors (also Joint Chief Executives) Poppy Burton-Morgan and William Reynolds. This role is funded by the Foyle Foundation.
