Performances of three Benjamin Britten canticles which were developed with puppetry and performed at several locations over the first half of 2010.

Abraham & Isaac
A new production of Benjamin Britten’s beautiful Canticle II – an operatic retelling of Abraham’s near sacrifice of his beloved son Isaac – for tenor and counter-tenor – told with interaction between singers and puppets. Originally developed for Grimeborn festival the the Arcola theatre in 2009.

Journey of The Magi
A new staging of Britten’s Canticle IV – a setting of one of T.S.Eliot’s best-known poems for counter-tenor, tenor & baritone. The story is that of the journey of the three kings to Bethlehem and their bewildered attempts to understand what they witness there – retold using shadow-puppetry and projection.

My Beloved is Mine
A work-in-progress showing of Britten’s Canticle I, using life-size puppetry.
